Press In Church
My heart is sad today for our country. Politics aside, our nation is hurting. People are anxious, fearful and lashing out. We are not at peace as a nation, but it is possible to be at peace as a person. We gain our peace not from the world or the people or things around us. We gain our peace, our hope and our strength from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).
I can’t bear to watch the news any longer, read news articles or peruse social media. It’s all just too much because I have no control over it. I am not the one writing the articles. I am not the one posting the statuses or the photos. However, I can be in control of a few things. I can choose to turn off the television, put down the newspaper and stop looking at social media for a period of time. I can also choose to pray and fast.

Leading up to the election, the Church was called to prayer and fasting, but we can’t let it end there. Clearly, there is still much work to be done in our nation.
As I was reading my Bible this morning, Proverbs 28:14 affirmed my decision to pray and fast for the healing of hurting and troubled hearts across America:
“Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.”
Let us join together over these next few days and continue crying out to the Lord through prayer and fasting. We need to continue to ask Him to heal our land and the people who reside within it. We need His presence to invade our hearts, our homes, and our streets. We need Him to search and soften hearts. We need to pray for a greater outpouring of love from the saints to overcome the darkness of hate.
We still need a miracle in this land. Press in Church. The ruins have not been rebuilt yet.
