God's Not Dead....But Satan is Still At It

As a modern society, we have a love/hate relationship with the media. When they report too much, we criminalize them, but when they don’t report anything or enough, we cry out against them. Case in point, the recent kidnapping of close to 300 young girls from a school in Nigeria. The media was eerily silent in reporting this incident and there was a backlash. Now, thanks to the backlash, this event and the hopeful return of these young girls is splashed across every media and social media outlet. That’s definitely good, but what about all the others that aren’t covered in the news? Are you aware that there is a raging war going on around the world against women every day? Do you know who is in command of this war?
 
Satan.
 
Satan has been waging war against women since the Garden of Eden. Satan didn’t first go after the man in the garden. No, he went after the woman. Why you ask? Because it is the woman who carries the seed to continue mankind. Satan was trying to wipe out the potential for mankind to spread. If Satan could somehow trip up Eve in the Garden and cause God to be angry with her, maybe, Satan thought, God would eliminate the woman all together.
 
And as always, we see that Satan’s pride is way bigger than his brain. Satan is cunning, sly and deceitful, but he’s not that smart.

If you have been following the story about the Nigerian school girls, you know that the Boko Haram has claimed to have kidnapped them. You would also know that “Boko Haram” loosely translates to “western education is sinful.” However, the group has officially adopted the name "the Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad."
 
This is a violent bunch. They despise anything Western, anything Christian and anything government related. They are the perfect type of people group to take on the handiwork of Satan. They are trying to bind people to sharia law as opposed to the grace offered by Jesus Christ under the New Testament. They claim to serve the same God as Christians, yet their god is not a god of peace, but of war and not a god of grace, but of law.
 
These people sound bad…not the kind of people you would want to be called to minister to and certainly not the kind of people most of us would want to associate with. Yet, there are people walking around this world every day who are participating in far greater atrocities against women than this bunch.
 
Matthew Arnold, an English poet in the 1800’s, wrote, “If there ever comes a time when the women of the world come together purely and simply for the benefit of mankind, it will be a force such as the world has never known.” This quote alone explains why Satan is fixated on battling against women.
 
Matthew Arnold’s quote here is interesting because he doesn’t say that women should come together for the sake of just women, but for the sake of mankind. Women are natural caretakers. We nest. We gather. We nurture. We take care of things that need to be tended to. Even in societies and cultures, including sub-cultures in America, where men are conspicuously absent, women are present. They are the ones tending to the family, they are the ones tending the households and they are the ones participating in the marketplace. And we see in these instances, they are not just about the women, but about mankind...and they are continuing that which God started.
 
Proverbs 31:10-31 says,
 

Of course Satan wants women to be uneducated and without rights. Of course Satan wants women to think they are worthless. Of course Satan wants women to believe they are nothing more than the property of men.
 
Why do we think Satan would want anything less? He has always proven himself to be everything that is contrary to the Bible.
 
God never intended men to own women or women to hate men. God created woman to be a helpmate to man.
 
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Genesis 2:18
 
God wanted a woman for Adam and He indeed still needs women today. That is exactly why Satan is still raging a battle against women and sadly, many aren’t even aware of it today. Because Western culture has afforded women so many rights, we have a tendency to focus on self and not think about the plight of many. And while people like Emily Lett irresponsibly glamorize abortion by videotaping her procedure (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RgWts2SX-k), women around the world are being forced (not voluntarily) to undergo abortions of unborn female babies. Women around the world are unable to obtain an education and seek medical care. These numbers aren’t in the couple hundreds per year or isolated incidents like this one in Nigeria. No, the numbers of missing women are in the millions EVERY YEAR. These numbers are extremely high in countries like China, India and parts of the Middle East.
 
Where is their news coverage? Where is our outrage on a daily basis?
 
Why is gendercide not a topic of water cooler conversation?
 
God proved His need for women when He sent His one and only son to the Earth via an ordinary woman. Jesus could have appeared in any manner imaginable and yet, God chose for Jesus to be implanted into the womb of a woman...the seed of mankind.
 
Women have a place in society because God created woman to be a perfect fit for man. Women are not to be sold in the marketplace and women are not to be killed simply because they are women.
 
The Holy Spirit impressed upon me this morning that vengeance is His, but prayer is the obligation of the believer. Believers, pray for women all around the world. The enemy actively seeks to steal, kill and destroy, but Jesus gives us life and life abundantly (John 10:10). While Satan seeks to sexualize women and keep women in bondage, Jesus is interceding for women. He is praying for their freedom and the restoration of Creation. We await that anxiously, yet patiently, knowing that His Word will be fulfilled.
