Day Two - February 20, 2015

While historians have pieced together pieces of Jesus’ life, Scripture gives us very little information on Jesus’ early childhood, teen and young adult years. However, there is a little nugget tucked into the Gospels that I find great peace in. I think I like this passage so much because it truly highlights that Mary and Joseph were earthly parents, just like my husband and I, and many of you. There were no cell phones, no Amber Alerts, and no “Find My Friends” app.
 
On an annual feast trip, Mary and Joseph “lost” Jesus during their trip home. It took a day before they realized that Jesus was not traveling with them and they returned to where they had been to look for their twelve-year old son. After three days of looking, they finally found Jesus, He was not at a friend’s house, at the candy store or playing in the street. No, according to Luke 2:46, “they found Him in the Temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.”
